Youth Tri-athlete Baden Brown Speaks on Juvenile Diabetes

Hendersonville Rotarian Tamie Babb introduced Baden Brown as the Club’s guest speaker. Baden is an eight year old third grader at Davidson Academy whose favorite subject is science. He was diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes at age five, but that doesn’t slow down the youth tri-athlete that has never lost a race.

Goodlettsville Little League All-Star Visits

Hendersonville Rotarian Hugh Atkinson introduced Little League All-Star Jonathan Seales and his father Joey Seales as the Club’s guest speakers. The Goodlettsville All-Star Team’s on field heroics are well documented – they defeated Warner Robbins (GA) for the Southeastern championship, they had to defeat Petaluma (CA) twice for the U.S. championship, then came up just short of beating Japan for the Little League World Series Championship.

Rotary Club Helps George Whitten Elementary Meet State Playground Standards

The Hendersonville Rotary Club was informed by Compass that George Whitten Elementary School lacked the funding to bring its playground up to state safety standards for the mulched playing surface.

The Hendersonville Rotary Club awarded its monthly Youth Merit Scholar Awards to Hendersonville High School seniors Tanner Borum and Nikki French, who were introduced by Rotarian Michel Owens.

Rotary Club Educator of the Month, Lani Skeith

The Hendersonville Rotarian and Director of Sumner County Schools Del Phillips presented the Club’s Educator of the Month award to Lani Skeith, 6th and 7th grade math teacher at Merrol Hyde Magnet School. Skeith, who was introduced by her principal Brad Schreiner, has been with Sumner County Schools for ten years.

The Hendersonville Rotarian Joe Beaver introduced Fred Bailey, founder of Children Are People, as the Club’s guest speaker. Children Are People, Inc, (CAP) was founded in 2000 by Bailey, who had a desire to make a difference in the lives of children who need extra attention to become successful.
