Rotary Awards Youth Merit Scholars

The Hendersonville Rotary Club awarded its monthly Youth Merit Scholar Awards to Pope John Paul II seniors Hogan Bryant and Emily Peel. Bryant is a resident of Clarksville and commutes to JPII. He is an Eagle Scout and is active in soccer, Leadership Societas, Catholic Youth Organization, and National Honor Society at JPII. He has applied to Notre Dame, Alabama, Loyola, and UT. Peel has participated in Girls State and Girls Nation and is active at JPII as the Vice President of National Honors Society, President of Veritas, and starting guard and captain of the varsity basketball team. She hopes to be accepted at the University of Virginia.

In addition to the Youth Merit Scholar awards, the Hendersonville Rotary Club supports Sumner County education in a number of other ongoing projects including Educator of the Month awards, Scholarships to Volunteer State, the Wally Nichols Memorial Scholarship, mentoring at risk students, weekend backpack programs, Dictionaries for Third Graders, Wheels In Motion, Rotary Youth Exchange, RYLA, Interact, Rotaract, and Compass.
